Renewable Energy at the Kendal Lads & Girls Club
This autumn the Kendal Lads & Girls Club was fitted with 28 solar panels and 2 storage batteries. The purchase of solar panels will provide free renewable electricity for use at the Centre during the day. The purchase of batteries will mean the use of free renewable electricity during the evenings when the Centre is in use. New Kitchen Installed
This year the Kendal Lads & Girls Club was successful in raising the money to replace the Kitchen at the Centre. The new kitchen units, cooker and hob have made a big difference to the kitchen dining area which has now been decorated to make a bright colourful and useful area for cooking, baking, having lunch or just chilling over a cup of tea. Freshly Decorated
This summer young men undertaking community service with the Probation Service spent their time painting the inside and outside of the building creating a lovely welcoming space for the groups who use it. They also tackled the garden which was well used through the hot sunny days and painted a mural on the wall where the outdoor seating is, brightening up what was a very uninviting space. General Building Maintenance in 2020

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2020 2020 has been, as for all, a very testing year for Kendal Lads and Girl’s Club. The Club was closed for most of the first lockdown, but reopened in June and has remained in use since then. User Group Update
• Springboard continue to rent the self-contained office to hold drop- ins and workshops. The new counselling rooms have made a big difference. Springboard used to rent a room at Stricklandgate House (additional cost incurred) for counselling • The Kendal Majorettes continue on a Thursday evening and a Saturday morning. Additions to the Youth Facilities
We now have 4 bike parking stands as part of a grant from SLDC. The whole building has now been fitted out with LED lights- the sports hall being the last phase. Electricity bills have gone down from £93.00 a month to £58.00. Read More

Thank you for your support
The management committee, members and user groups would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to two local companies for their support of the Kendal Lads & Girls Club. Gilkes of Canal Head in the town donated £12,000 over three years to support the club while it built up rental income to become sustainable.
