Annual General Meeting

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2020

2020 has been, as for all, a very testing year for Kendal Lads and Girl’s Club. The Club was closed for most of the first lockdown, but reopened in June and has remained in use since then.

I would like to thank our sponsors, donees and other supporters for their continued commitment to the Club through 2020. We have received considerable support from Kendal Town Council and SLDC, and the Frieda Scott Trust as well as a number of significant private donations. Without their support the Club would not be able to provide a safe space for the young people of Kendal.

The Club continues to host the Kendal Boxing Club as well as other local Clubs and groups and the Club are seeking to expand the use of the site as a venue for such groups in the future.

The Club also provides a Youth Club, thanks to funding from Frieda Scott Trust. The Youth Club seeks to provide weekly sessions to young people in Kendal as well as arranging other activities and trips outside the Club. These activities have, by necessity, been curtailed this year, but we hope to develop these opportunities during the next year.

I would like to thank the staff, Committee, Trustees as well as our supporters for their continued hard work and commitment throughout the year, without which the Club would struggle to function. In particular, I would like to thank Ian Parr, the Club manager, who has kept the Club ticking over during this difficult year.

We will, as always, have need for additional funding in 2021 and we will endeavour to continue to raise those necessary funds in order to provide a safe environment for the young people of Kendal.
