National Citizen Scheme was delivered at the Kendal Lads & Girls Club this summer

Young Cumbria facilitated 3 groups (36 young people) as part of the government initiative the National Citizenship Service.

The groups spent one week at Outward Bound in Aberdovey, one week with Young Cumbria staying at Arnside Youth Hostel, during the week they spent time looking at budgeting, drugs & alcohol, road safety with Cumbria fire and rescue and looking at future aspirations for employment.

As part of their volunteering during this project the groups moved 2 tonne of chip bark around the climbing frame, painted yellow lines around the car park and generally tidied up around the centre.

The groups also went to Bendrigg and Queen Katherine Community Garden to offer their services to do gardening and landscaping.
