New facility now available at Kendal Lads & Girls Club

The Kendal Lads & Girls Club now hosts a self-contained meeting or training room. It has both kitchen and toilet facilities contained within the space and if needed a second break out space for group work. The facility also contains access to the usual meeting room needs, projector, wipe board, board room tables and chairs. The venue is close to town centre and has off road car parking. Read More

Sandcastle Water Park

41 young people attended a trip to Sandcastle Water Park, Blackpool during October half term and enjoyed 6 hours in the park. On the way home we took in the Blackpool illuminations which was the first time for many of the group. Read More

Half Term Blast

The delivery of the programme during October half term was a trail. The initial feedback from young people was that the programme on the whole was a success. Transport was supplied which enabled 10 young people from Sedbergh to access the activities held at the youth centre and use the skate park which was the big draw for this group. Going forward, for February half term we will be looking to provide more transport to collect young people from other areas in the South Lakes. Read More

National Citizen Scheme was delivered at the Kendal Lads & Girls Club this summer

Young Cumbria facilitated 3 groups (36 young people) as part of the government initiative the National Citizenship Service. The groups spent one week at Outward Bound in Aberdovey, one week with Young Cumbria staying at Arnside Youth Hostel, during the week they spent time looking at budgeting, drugs & alcohol, road safety with Cumbria fire and rescue and looking at future aspirations for employment. News from the Kendal Lads & Girls Club Annual General Meeting

The Young Cumbria youth clubs have had a busy year with: • 58 juniors (8-10 years of age) accessing the club this year • 192 young people (11-19 years of age) engaged by the project • 97 young people have attended on a regular basis with the clubs and projects • 59 young people have received awards and certificates for their learning • 157 sessions were delivered, which equates to 314 hours working with young people Read More

The Annual Summer Camp At YMCA Lakeside

This year we were lucky to have fantastic weather which added to the enjoyment of the event. Spending the night under canvas and cooking outside the group had a great time in a weekend packed full of fun! The New Youth Café

The Youth Café has been funded by the Frieda Scott Charitable Trust and the Kendal LAP Fund to allow young people of all ages to access the facilities of the youth centre and youth work staff on Tuesdays 3.30 – 5.30 & Saturdays 12.00 – 2.00pm.
