News from the Kendal Lads & Girls Club Annual General Meeting

The Young Cumbria youth clubs have had a busy year with: • 58 juniors (8-10 years of age) accessing the club this year • 192 young people (11-19 years of age) engaged by the project • 97 young people have attended on a regular basis with the clubs and projects • 59 young people have received awards and certificates for their learning • 157 sessions were delivered, which equates to 314 hours working with young people Read More

The Annual Summer Camp At YMCA Lakeside

This year we were lucky to have fantastic weather which added to the enjoyment of the event. Spending the night under canvas and cooking outside the group had a great time in a weekend packed full of fun! The New Youth Café

The Youth Café has been funded by the Frieda Scott Charitable Trust and the Kendal LAP Fund to allow young people of all ages to access the facilities of the youth centre and youth work staff on Tuesdays 3.30 – 5.30 & Saturdays 12.00 – 2.00pm. This new project has attracted some old members back to the club to catch up with what’s going on and is ideal for all those using the new skate park facility nearby. Read More

Kendal Mayor's Fund

The last Kendal Mayor John Willshaw chose the Kendal Lads & Girls Club as his charity of the year, through a wide range of fund raising events including coffee mornings, a mayors dinner and community events the charity raised and donated £3,000 towards the refurbishment of the sports hall at the Lads & Girls Club. The committee, young people and groups who use the youth centre on a regular basis are extremely grateful for this donation and John’s sponsorship of our work. Read More

Exhibition Boxing Event & Dinner

Members of the Kendal Amateur Boxing Club hosted and took part in a charity exhibition event at Kendal Town Hall on 23rd May; it was a great evening with a range of skills on show with those in their first public match to those with plenty of experience and expertise on show. Skate Park Opening

This was a great success, with a variety of activities provided on the day; which had a huge input form young people. Over 90 young people signed in on the day however this was not a true refection of numbers due to it being an open event.
